Product arrived ahead of schedule. Product was packaged perfectly. Product is exactly as advertised. Highly recommend this for artists of any level. Good for either the 1/8th inch or what is known as ‘cradled’ meaning it has a wooden frame of 3/4 inch up to 2 inch in depth.. Have some fun, it’s a little pricey but. where else can you get quality for a few bucks?
UPDATE: Ordered product on June 25th; today is July 5th. Eleven days since ordering; still has not been seen by the shipper- the USPS. Product is fine, I’ve nothing but high marks for Ampersand. However, the company get less than one star or an F minus. BUYER BEWARE, THE SELLER GETS AN F, A NO STAR RATING. BUY ELSEWHERE.
FINAL UPDATE: This is in regards to the product line provided by Ampersand. The product is by far and away the choice of arts who want a museum quality surface to paint upon. However, after speaking various art supply companies and having experienced a less than stellar feeling when the item(s) were shipped; it appears the manufacturer could provide a recycled paper or styrofoam set of corners; after all, a few cents for each corner would all but eliminate the ‘damaged in shipment ‘ nightmare I’ve heard of and experienced. Enough Said.. I’ve put more than my two cents in on this order.

My first time to paint on such a smooth surface. Things I really liked about it, and also disliked. I will try again….

I have been very frustrated with this Gessobord. The surface is porous and I have had to abandon a portrait that I was painting and revert to canvas. Even my art teacher said he had never experienced such a surface. Very disappointed.

Ampersand is a top-notch company and they really stand by their products. These Boards are top quality and are super easy to alter in dimension if necessary (as long as you own a table saw). The gesso finish is tough as nails and has a little bit of texture that makes them very easy to draw on too.

Gesso goes all the way to the edge and edges are straight, no rounding or beveling. Arrived wet through the plastic with water stains on the gesso side and overall warped with the sharp corners bent. Quality is fine for what it is, but I won’t be going with this brand again when better quality for about the same price is available.

I love the smooth finish of these boards, especially now that I’m working on creating portraits. Your images have no odd lines or canvas weave modifying the finished image. Very happy with this purchase!!

The boards themselves are of excellent quality. I paint with oils and these are coated with titanium white, which is the whitest neutral white you can get. Unfortunately, I sell my art, and the panel I received is damaged, as you can see in the pictures.
