I recently purchased four sets of luggage for our family – two of Delsey Helium Aero and two of Delsey Helium Titanium. First of all let me say that we are very, very happy with our purchase. The Delsey luggage is very lightweight and of very high quality. The wheels, zippers, locks, and almost everything else work wonderfully. My only complaint is that while the non-retractable handles feel great they sit flush against the case and are a bit stiff when you try to pull them out to carry the bag. Our hope/expectation is that they will loosen up over time.

If you are considering getting the set – 29″, 25″, and (20″) Carry On Spinner – they DO nest for storage.

The Aero is more refined – my wife likes it better. The finish is glossy, the zipper handles are rubberized, and the interior fabric is more cloth-like. The Titanium has a textured finish, the zippers are all metal, and the fabric is more nylon-y.

The Aero’s locks are more finicky requiring two hands to lock and have smaller, harder to read number wheels. On the Titanium the zippers click easily into the lock and the lock has more standard, larger number wheels. The retractable handle slides in and out more smoothly on the Aero but also wobbles back and forth more when fully extended. But this is only really noticeable on the Carry On – we extended the handle one click on the 29″ on two clicks on the 25″.

When travelling the Aero shows dust immediately and the Titanium hides it better…which can be a plus or minus depending on your point of view. Also, scratches show more on the Aero and the stickers that hotels and others have taken to using are harder to get off the Aero’s smooth finish (but do come off with a bit of elbow grease and goo-gone).

All in all it’s been a long time since I’ve bought luggage so there was a good bit of ‘sticker shock’ when I made the purchase. But we have been really pleased thus far. And lastly, an unforeseen benefit our purchase was the recognition value. On a recent cruise two of our bags were misplaced and I had to contact the purser to track them down. He asked for a detailed description of the bags and I said their color, that they were hard-sided, they were Delsey, they were…and he cut me off and said, ‘Oh…Delsey. hard-sided, red and silver, I’m on it…’ They were found more or less immediately.

I had to order a replacement because the telescopic handle will not fully extend. FYI, I had to return the first one and Amazon processed a refund. I placed a new order to get the replacement. I have not used the replacement on a trip yet. But I have now started packing for an upcoming trip And I’m testing the telescopic handle again. Since the replacement arrived, the telescopic handle fully extended only *maybe* twice. It is such a struggle to get it to extend fully. 99% of the time, the handle will only go up to the 2nd stop. Thankfully I’m only 5’2” so the 2nd stop means it just comes up to my hand. This is definitely going to be an ergonomic issue for people taller than 5’2”. The annoying thing is if I had a tote that I want to add to the top of this luggage, the tote will be higher than the handle because the telescopic handle only comes up to the 2nd stop. Sooooo FRUSTRATING!!! I do like the fact that I can unzip the front part and it opens to allow me access to my iPad and documents without having to open the entire bag. The spinner wheels seem to maneuver well. But I absolutely hate the telescopic handle and wonder how well it will stand up to normal use. Considering the price for this Delsey, I shouldn’t have to put up with the telescopic handle issue. I have a cheaper carry-on trolley bag that I’ve used for 8 years on multiple trips and that one has no issues whatsoever with the telescopic handle.

Holding up nicely. I’ve taken this little bag to Europe and on several domestic trips. It’s holding up very nicely. The wheels are good quality and the handle is durable. I am using this as a personal travel bag, but I am a Flight Attendant in my professional life. I wish I could use this bag for work, (I have specific luggage that I must use,) because I really like this bag. I do consider myself a luggage expert as I have basically been living out of suitcases and hotels for 28 years, so, please trust me when I tell you that Delsey makes a great bag. If you’re considering purchasing, go ahead. You won’t be disappointed.

1 year and 96 flights later, the bag is holding up great! The handle is a little loose from constant use but no problem. It gets beat up when I need to gate check, but held up great. I am about to buy a second one for my wife. **Updated 7/29/19** Still using the bag! Over 300 flights are on this bag. The pull out handle works but is getting a little loose. Still working great no issues.

*update Dec 10. I would return this if I could. It hardly holds anything because of the front design. I was shocked when I went to pack this case for the first time today. So disappointing. Nothing but a laptop or papers can be slid into front compartment andit leaves you with hardly any space in interior. So now I have to write this one off and look for a better case. It’s a glorified briefcase.

I give 3 stars for the reduced volume of this case. It def gets top marks for quality and construction. Compartments are nice but this is more of a short trip business bag. I would expect to be able to pack at least 30% less in this carry on because of the side pockets and dividers. I really like the overall make of it but not sure if it will be viable for packing essentials overseas. Fully expanded makes very little difference. A good buy if you do t need as much space.

I was disappointed with the Delsey I pusrchased from Amazon. After I ordered it I discovered I could purchase them directly fro Delsey with free shipping for the same price, so I ordered one from them too. The Amazon purchase is the green and direct from Delsey is the black. (When open the Amazon bag has grey interior and the true Delsey bag has black) My Amazon purchase felt like it was made from inferior materials and I had a hard time believing it would stand up to repeated use. Now, I ordered the hellium aero direct from Delsey, which is a different model, but before I even got it out of the box I could tell the difference in quality. The bag ordered direct from Delsey felt like higher quality material and I believe it will stand up to a lot more use. Needless to say, my Amazon purchase will be returned.
