Absolutely beautiful lamp that works great in our kids’ room! Installation was easy despite the fact that the instructions were not super clear and seemed to be more complicated than actually needed.

The light was shipped Amazon Prime and made it here in no time! Great! The light was in good working order with all parts included and well packaged. I would recommend this light for sure! WITH A WARNING! The light in a child’s room (where I assume most people will hang it) poses one serious risk which I am debating a visually appealing fix as I type; the blade on the plane is actually SHARP!!!!!!!!! My concern is that it could easily puncture a head or poke out an eye if your child is tall enough and likes to jump on their bed!!!!!!!! I have 8′ ceilings in my childs room and the plane hangs about in the 6.5-7′ range, with the 2.5′ bed below it, you can imagine the concern! If you are handy with tools and can file and polish the blade it’s fine but please use caution otherwise when purchasing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It truly is a beautiful light so I was torn between 2 stars for safety or the 4 stars that I gave it. I would again just use caution and hang it as high as you can! The mount offers an extension of at least another 6″ which I wouldn’t even use with 9′ ceiling! And the instructions are limited so if you are not handy with these things hire someone or skip the light as well! Best of Luck!

Exceeded my expectations in all regards. I had thought the wings were metal but they are clear (high-quality) plastic – looks stunning actually. Very pleased – looks superb.

I ordered this item for my baby’s room. I am very pregnant and my husband is now in Iraq. At the time he wasnt but the light fixture arrived broken. I didnt think much about it, figured I could just get a hold of amazon.com and see when they could get a replacement to me. They patched me through to someone at PearleKids. The woman was very short tempered and seemed annoyed, as if they’ve never had someone call because of broken glass. She asked what was wrong with the item and I told her but that wasn’t good enough. She still had me fax her a piece of paper with whats broken written on it… ummm ok? Any ways after 2 weeks I still hadn’t heard from anyone. I called and spoke with someone, she was very nice and very helpful. Exactly one day after I called I received an email from PearleKids letting me know that my replacement had shipped and they weren’t going to charge me for the replacement piece of glass… what? Thanks, I guess. I received it today, unbroken but very different looking. I paid $[…] and I now have to remove the hardware and electricial stuff from the broken glass and put it on the replacement. So what did I pay so much for? Horrible customer service, a broken biplane, and hardware I had to put on myself. Thanks but no thanks. Its a nice light, but I would never order anything from PearleKids again.

My wife and I saw this light at a local lighting store and absolutely loved how it looked. We are renovating a home and thought this would look perfect in our boy’s room. However, the local store was selling this for over $450. After getting some information from the salesperson, I did a search on amazon and was pleased to see that it was available for half the price. I ordered it and received it in perfect condition, all the parts were carefully packed in tons of bubble wrap and foam peanuts.

Upon installation, I realized that the light hangs a minimum of 16 inches from the ceiling. The display at the store was hanging from a rack about 15 feet high so I didn’t think about the height. Our house has 8 foot ceilings so I can easily touch the light and I’m 5’9′. The kid’s room doesn’t have any furniture directly under the light but the bunk bed in the corner of the room has a ladder that my 6 year old can stand on and touch the light. I’ve warned him many times that touching it can be dangerous as it can be very hot (I use a 100 watt LED so it really isnt’), the metal propeller has sharp edges, and the entire body of the plane is made of glass. He got the idea and is very careful about not touching it.

The quality of the light is very good. The body is made of thick glass, the wings and wheels are made of clear plastic, and the propeller and miscellaneous other parts are metal. Like another reviewer has mentioned, the propeller blades have slightly sharp edges so you may want to file them down. The front area of the plane from the propeller to the metal band around the cockpit comes off for access to the light bulb. The front area on our plane does not fit nicely and sags downwards a little.

I make sure we don’t allow our kids to keep any hard toys or balls in the bedroom for fear that they’ll throw one and hit the light. I’m so worried about the kids damaging the light but I was the first to do it. I accidentally hit the fixture with my younger son’s head as I was playing with him. I lifted him up, forgetting that the light hung so low, and hit the wheels on the bottom of the light pretty hard. Luckily, there were only a few tiny glass chips inside the fixture that broke off from the inside edge of the bulb opening. Other than that, the fixture was fine. I know, Father of the Year.
